Project Krokus

Pupils of the 9th grade and 6th B class participated in the Krokus International Project, implemented by the Irish organization Holocaust Education Trust Ireland (HETI) in cooperation with the Education and Culture Department of the Jewish Museum in Prague. The above-mentioned classes were planted with yellow crocuses to the Schwarzcheide deathbed memorial, which is located in the campus. Yellow-flowering plants are meant to symbolize the commemoration of one and a half million Jewish children and hundreds of thousands of other children who died during the Holocaust. The yellow colour is reminiscent of the yellow David star that the Jews were forced to wear during the Nazi rule. To sixty of the tubers we delivered, we bought another sixty. Half of the crocuses dropped the pupils on a newly-built spoon at the monument. The other half of the children planted ceramic bowls, which, when they started to crouch, were placed among the monuments. We have tried to test the deployment. (see photo) However, we placed ceramic pots in the area of the school garden, where it is covered with a protective layer of leaves before the winter.
